Salam alaykum,

Things to bring:

1. smart casual dress. as in, dressing, not ladies dress or gown or evening dress. or anything you think is appropriate to wear during lectures and seminars.
2. sports attire. still, yang sopan. there’s no need to dress like Olympic athletes, as long as you’re NOT wearing jeans and slippers, we’re fine with that. we’ll be doing some ‘gentle’ outdoor activities, so it’s advisable to bring sneakers together with track bottoms and t-shirt. anything that you’re comfortable wearing basically.
3. prayers attire. or anything that’s suitable for solat.

Things you don’t have to bring:

1. stationery. ILIM provide us with some paper and a pen or pencil, basic needs for note-taking. but just in case you prefer to jot down on your own notebook using your own Pilot pen (ini bukan pesanan penaja), it’s up to you.
2. toiletries. maybe you should bring stuff for your oral care. but ILIM provide soap (and maybe shampoo. they’re like a hotel, remember?). towels are also provided.
3. Money. lots of them. what for?

But we have no objections if you still want to bring yours.

Registration

Registration will begin at 3pm on Friday and will end at around 8pm. the RM20 fee is to be paid only during registration.

Final Call

in our last effort to court you a couple of days before registration is closed, here we present our final poster, hoping that you’ll be convinced finally to register and join us Fly High, after seeing the ever-colourful and wonderfully worded poster (yea rite…)

NEWSFLASH: Waiting Points!!

Salam wbt;

due to overwhelming responses from the very eager would-be participants who have already registered and inquired, here are some of the details regarding the programme:

LOGISTICS

Private Vehicle

If you’re driving, ILIM has some parking spaces reserved for FHOZNZ09 participants, and gates will be opened starting 3.00PM (right after Friday prayer). give Salaam to the guard, and just tell him/her that you are a FHOZNZ09 participant. Please take note that we will give the registration  name list to the guard. So only those who registered are allowed to enter ILIM. Registration will be closed entirely on the 10th of January 2009. So cepat2, lai2, register when you can still fly with fly high 2009. Please do not wait until the very last day.

Public Transport (from Komuter UKM)

Congratulations, you have just done your bit in conserving the earth by reducing your carbon footprints! anyhow, Alhamdulillah, as promised, we have your transportation settled. the first trip from KTM-Komuter to ILIM is at 4PM, then at 4.30PM, then at 5.00PM (each trip departs at 30-minute intervals) and the cars will ferry the participants until the last trip at *7.00pm, about 15min before the call for Maghrib prayer. Should you arrive at KTM-Komuter after 7.00pm, you may give us a call at 017 671  4128 (Brother Hanafee) or 019 389 6358 (Sister Siti Sarah) and we will try insyaAllah to arrange a transportation for you. However, please take note that Fly High 2009 will kick-off right after Maghrib prayer. Hence, arriving early  gives you time to relax and to settle down quite nicely in ILIM.

and only after all of the participants have safely arrived in ILIM, then we will proceed to the programme, insha Allah, that is scheduled something like this:

ILIM is where the Venue Is

salaam alaykum,

maaf kerana lama menyepi tanpa sebarang update. kami akui yang kami tidak sempat untuk mengemaskini laman ini kerana kami sibuk dengan urusan pendaftaran yang semakin hari semakin ramai. maka tunggu apa lagi? jika anda masih belum mendaftar… um, tunggu sebentar. mungkin anda ingin membaca dahulu ‘entri’ kali ini.

atas sebab memelihara hak cipta intelektual, dan untuk mengelakkan dari menjadi ‘spoiler‘, kami tidak dapat menyiarkan kepada pembaca intipati program yang akan kami sajikan kepada peserta-peserta nanti. memadailah rasanya dengan ‘highlights‘ di poster kami, jika anda inginkan rujukan.

namun kami boleh tunjukkan kepada anda serba sedikit mengenai tempat program Fly High 2009 diadakan nanti. Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia, ILIM.

yang berkereta mungkin perlu berurusan di pondok pengawal tersebut. selesai di pintu masuk, anda akan dihidangkan dengan pemandangan foyer blok utama yang tersergam indah.

penat cameraman tunggu saat berangin-angin baru ambil gambar bendera berkibar-kibar…

lihatlah di sekeliling…

dan inilah pemandangan yang mungkin anda akan nampak.

kalian mungkin akan perlu mendaftar di kaunter ini untuk mendapatkan kunci ke bilik anda

peluang untuk hadiah misteri: namakan jenis khat ini ketika urusan ‘check-in’ nanti*, dan anda akan menerima hadiah misteri (tidak, ini lain dari hadiah misteri untuk pendaftaran berkumpulan). siapa cepat, dia dapat.

dan antara mercu paling utama di dalam kompleks ilim… Surau al-Ilim.

pintu pagar sudah, surau tempat beribadah pun sudah. maka, apa lagi? bilik tidur!

panoramic la pulak kan… ni nak bercuti ke nak berkursus ni?

jika anda pernah mendengar pasal ILIM, pasti anda juga ada dihebahkan mengenai penginapan peserta yang seperti ‘hotel’. tak percaya?

okay, maybe tak la macam Hilton atau Sheraton. hotel 3-bintang pun masih hotel, kan?

pesanan penaja: peserta tidak perlu lah membawa selimut, duvet, alas cadar milik persendirian. tetapi kami tidak lah sampai menghalang sesiapa yang ingin juga membawa ‘bantal bucuk’ mereka.

juga, tidak lengkap hotel kalau bilik penginapan tidak ‘en-suite’. bilik-bilik di ILIM semuanya ‘en-suite‘.

‘en-suite‘ maksudnya bilik dengan ‘attached-bathroom‘, kepada sesiapa yang kurang arif.

semestinya satu-satu program itu tidak lengkap jika tidak ada tempat makan. dewan makan ILIM adalah berhawa dingin, dan sangatlah tidak sama dengan dewan makan di asrama sekolah… tiada ‘tray’, tiada ikan ‘jacket’ etc.

tak senonoh betul orang ni… dah lepas gamba tandas, dia tunjuk pulak gamba dewan makan…

selesai sudah penginapan dan hal-hal yang sepatutnya remeh (kita kan hendak berkursus… belajar sambil bercuti-cuti, bukan sebaliknya), kepada kemudahan berkursus. mengikut kesesuaian aktiviti, kita akan berkampung sama ada di:

1. dewan aktiviti

sekali lagi, gambar-gambar pemuda sekadar hiasan.

untuk beraktiviti la kan. ape lagi?, dan

2. dewan teater / dewan kuliah.

gambaran program yang sedang dijalankan… kecuali Fly High lagi ‘happening’ dari yang ini!

untuk berteater ke? mungkin ya, mungkin tidak. kita tunggu~

selesai sudah lawatan maya kita ke ILIM. lawatan kita telah mencakupi hampir kesemua aspek-aspek penting. jika ada apa-apa keraguan atau kemusykilan, seperti biasa, emel ke flyhighoznz09@gmail.com

what she really means is: Attention to all of you who can read this, please proceed to the “REGISTRATION” tab to register yourself as a participant of FLYHIGH Aussie-NZ 2009 as the registration is NOW OPEN.

“For Frequent Flyers members, please proceed to the Flyers Lounge to accumulate more points for your Flyers account or to redeem your rewards.”

what she really means is: accummulate more friends to join you by helping us promote this event. you can download all the relevant stuff (so far only pamphlets and poster) from our “downloads” page, and distribute them to the masses, be it in physical form or electronic form by uploading to your blogs or friendster/myspace/facebook accounts.

“For Group check-in, please proceed to counter 734 and identify everyone in your groups and present your Flyers card to get your instant rewards.”

what she really means is: introducing our latest offering, GROUP REGISTRATION! register in a GROUP OF FOUR (4), and you’ll get mystery gifts specially flown over all the way from AUSTRALIA! check out the “registration” page for more info.

** counter 734 is also fictional, even the biggest airport in the world won’t have a counter with that number. 734 actually stands for “REG” in ‘registration’. genius, eh?

 

Let’s get it started!!

In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful;

We have recently updated this page so that you our visitors, and most importantly our prospective participants, can have a clearer picture about the whole programme. This particular post will be some sort of brief introduction about the whole programme, and this whole website too.

So, what is actually Fly High?

Briefly, Fly High is kinda a pre-departure programme, and as you can already tell, it’s specifically aimed at Aussie- and NZ-bound students, although the core module still generally caters for overseas-bound students to other countries. its 2 days itinerary includes talks by renowned speakers, workshops and discussion groups, led by experienced facilitators. <read Intro page>

Its aim is to basically prepare students with everything that you need to know prior to your departure, so that the participants will be well-geared for life as a foreign student on a foreign land, hoping that our participants will always be one step ahead from the rest of the pack. All the activities held are emphasised on these 3 main aspects and bases:

1) Experience sharing between the professionals and prospective students,

2) Motivational relationship building among these groups of people,

3) Inculcation of the notion that Islam is a comprehensive system of life which is contemporary and modern amongst the participants

Among the highlights of this programme are Dynamic Talks (on various issues regarding student life abroad), Fiqh of Travellers, “7 Tools of Highly Effective Malaysian Undergraduates”, to name a few. Not to mention one of the speakers is Brother Hasrizal Abd Jamil, owner of saifulislam.com.

Now, for the most important piece of information…Event Details! It will be on 16-18th of January 2009, at Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia, Bangi (transportation from UKM KTM-Komuter Station will be provided).
