Things to bring:

  1. smart casual dress. as in, dressing, not ladies dress or gown or evening dress. or anything you think is appropriate to wear during lectures and seminars.
  2. sports attire. still, yang sopan. there’s no need to dress like Olympic athletes, as long as you’re NOT wearing jeans and slippers, we’re fine with that. we’ll be doing some ‘gentle’ outdoor activities, so it’s advisable to bring sneakers together with track bottoms and t-shirt. anything that you’re comfortable wearing basically.
  3. prayers attire. or anything that’s suitable for solat.

Things you don’t have to bring:

  1. stationery. ILIM provide us with some paper and a pen or pencil, basic needs for note-taking. but just in case you prefer to jot down on your own notebook using your own Pilot pen (ini bukan pesanan penaja), it’s up to you.
  2. toiletries. maybe you should bring stuff for your oral care. but ILIM provide soap (and maybe shampoo. they’re like a hotel, remember?). towels are also provided.
  3. Money. lots of them. what for?

But we have no objections if you still want to bring yours.

Registration

Registration will begin at 3pm on Friday and will end at around 8pm. the RM20 fee is to be paid only during registration.

due to overwhelming responses from the very eager would-be participants who have already registered and inquired, here are some of the details regarding the programme:

LOGISTICS

Private Vehicle

If you’re driving, ILIM has some parking spaces reserved for FHOZNZ09 participants, and gates will be opened starting 3.00PM (right after Friday prayer). give Salaam to the guard, and just tell him/her that you are a FHOZNZ09 participant. Please take note that we will give the registration  name list to the guard. So only those who registered are allowed to enter ILIM. Registration will be closed entirely on the 10th of January 2009. So cepat2, lai2, register when you can still fly with fly high 2009. Please do not wait until the very last day.

Public Transport (from Komuter UKM)

Congratulations, you have just done your bit in conserving the earth by reducing your carbon footprints! anyhow, Alhamdulillah, as promised, we have your transportation settled. the first trip from KTM-Komuter to ILIM is at 4PM, then at 4.30PM, then at 5.00PM (each trip departs at 30-minute intervals) and the cars will ferry the participants until the last trip at *7.00pm, about 15min before the call for Maghrib prayer. Should you arrive at KTM-Komuter after 7.00pm, you may give us a call at 017 671  4128 (Brother Hanafee) or 019 389 6358 (Sister Siti Sarah) and we will try insyaAllah to arrange a transportation for you. However, please take note that Fly High 2009 will kick-off right after Maghrib prayer. Hence, arriving early  gives you time to relax and to settle down quite nicely in ILIM.

and only after all of the participants have safely arrived in ILIM, then we will proceed to the programme, insha Allah, that is scheduled something like this:

maaf kerana lama menyepi tanpa sebarang update. kami akui yang kami tidak sempat untuk mengemaskini laman ini kerana kami sibuk dengan urusan pendaftaran yang semakin hari semakin ramai. maka tunggu apa lagi? jika anda masih belum mendaftar… um, tunggu sebentar. mungkin anda ingin membaca dahulu ‘entri’ kali ini.

juga, tidak lengkap hotel kalau bilik penginapan tidak ‘en-suite’. bilik-bilik di ILIM semuanya ‘en-suite‘.

semestinya satu-satu program itu tidak lengkap jika tidak ada tempat makan. dewan makan ILIM adalah berhawa dingin, dan sangatlah tidak sama dengan dewan makan di asrama sekolah… tiada ‘tray’, tiada ikan ‘jacket’ etc.

tak senonoh betul orang ni… dah lepas gamba tandas, dia tunjuk pulak gamba dewan makan…

selesai sudah penginapan dan hal-hal yang sepatutnya remeh (kita kan hendak berkursus… belajar sambil bercuti-cuti, bukan sebaliknya), kepada kemudahan berkursus. mengikut kesesuaian aktiviti, kita akan berkampung sama ada di:

“For Frequent Flyers members, please proceed to the Flyers Lounge to accumulate more points for your Flyers account or to redeem your rewards.”

what she really means is: accummulate more friends to join you by helping us promote this event. you can download all the relevant stuff (so far only pamphlets and poster) from our “downloads” page, and distribute them to the masses, be it in physical form or electronic form by uploading to your blogs or friendster/myspace/facebook accounts.

We have recently updated this page so that you our visitors, and most importantly our prospective participants, can have a clearer picture about the whole programme. This particular post will be some sort of brief introduction about the whole programme, and this whole website too.

So, what is actually Fly High?

Briefly, Fly High is kinda a pre-departure programme, and as you can already tell, it’s specifically aimed at Aussie- and NZ-bound students, although the core module still generally caters for overseas-bound students to other countries. its 2 days itinerary includes talks by renowned speakers, workshops and discussion groups, led by experienced facilitators. <read Intro page>

Its aim is to basically prepare students with everything that you need to know prior to your departure, so that the participants will be well-geared for life as a foreign student on a foreign land, hoping that our participants will always be one step ahead from the rest of the pack. All the activities held are emphasised on these 3 main aspects and bases:

1) Experience sharing between the professionals and prospective students,

2) Motivational relationship building among these groups of people,

3) Inculcation of the notion that Islam is a comprehensive system of life which is contemporary and modern amongst the participants

Among the highlights of this programme are Dynamic Talks (on various issues regarding student life abroad), Fiqh of Travellers, “7 Tools of Highly Effective Malaysian Undergraduates”, to name a few. Not to mention one of the speakers is Brother Hasrizal Abd Jamil, owner of saifulislam.com.

Now, for the most important piece of information…Event Details! It will be on 16-18th of January 2009, at Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia, Bangi (transportation from UKM KTM-Komuter Station will be provided).
